Our Story

We built the bag we couldn’t find.

One bag for every part of your life. Here’s how it started — and why it’s made the way it is.

Walkroot — The Everyday

Where it began

It started with a pile of bags by the door.

A bag for work. A tote for groceries. A gym bag, a “nice” one for going out, and a canvas one that held whatever didn’t fit in the others. Every morning meant moving the same keys, charger, water bottle and snacks from one to the next — and still walking out the door having forgotten something.

The frustrating part wasn’t the clutter. It was the trade-off. Every bag made you choose: the one that holds everything, or the one that actually looks good carrying it. Never both.

The founder

Hi, I’m Natalie.

I’m the kind of person who leaves the house with more than I probably need — and somehow still reaches for something that isn’t there. Long days on my feet, a bag that never quite kept up, and that same tired ritual of repacking every single morning.

I kept waiting for someone to make the bag I had in my head: organized enough for a full day, light enough to carry all of it, and good-looking enough that I actually wanted to. When I couldn’t find it anywhere, I stopped waiting and started building it.

Natalie S., founder of Walkroot

The name

Why Walkroot? Two halves of one idea.

Walk is the motion — your commute, your errands, your 12-hour shift, your flight. The day never really sits still, and neither should the thing you carry it in.

Root is the grounding — everything you need, in its place, ready the second you reach for it. No digging, no second bag, no forgetting.

Put them together and you get the whole promise: everything you carry, grounded with you, wherever you go.

What we made

One bag that actually transforms.

The Everyday shifts from tote to backpack to crossbody, drops neatly into a shopping cart, and cradles a car seat — with around 15 pockets hiding the small stuff exactly where you left it.

It’s made from water-resistant, wipe-clean nylon, so a coffee spill or a rainy walk to the car is a non-event. Light to carry, built to keep up, and finished with a woven strap you’ll recognize from a block away.

Who it’s for

Made for real days.

One bag, many lives. Wherever your day goes, it’s built to go with you.

For the nurse

Your whole shift, handled.

Everything a 12-hour shift throws at you — snacks, chargers, a change of clothes, the little things that get you through — in one bag that wipes clean at the end of it.

For the student

Dorm to class to gym.

Laptop, notes, water bottle, gym kit, the library-then-coffee detour. One bag does the whole day without a second thought.

For the mom

The diaper bag that isn’t.

All the room and pockets you need for the little one — plus a cart liner and car-seat cradle — in something that looks like a bag you’d actually choose.

For the traveler

Carries like a carry-on.

A personal item that swallows more than it should, organizes every layer, and slides under the seat while looking nothing like luggage.

What we care about

The things we won’t cut corners on.

Built to keep up

Made for full days.

Water-resistant, wipe-clean nylon and around 15 pockets. Designed for the messy, busy middle of real life — not a shelf.

Honest about it

No hype, no fine print.

A genuinely useful bag at a fair price. We’d rather under-promise and let the bag do the talking once it’s in your hands.

Made to move

One bag, five ways.

Tote, backpack, crossbody, cart liner, car-seat cradle. It changes shape so you don’t have to change bags.

“We were tired of choosing between a bag that holds everything and one that looks good carrying it. So we made one that does both.”
